Cucumber

Cucumis sativus - Cucumbers are believed to be thousands of years old, originating in southern Asia, very likely India. They have been used as food and medicine in ancient Greece and Egypt. They are rich in potassium which is important to balance blood pressure. Sterols found in the skins are an aid to lowering cholesterol. A good source of Vitamin A and C, magnesium, the trace element Molybdenum which metabolizes fat and a rich source of silica which is anti- aging and supports healthy hair, skin and nails.

Start seeds indoors in 3 inch pots by the end of April, planting ¼ inch deep, to place outside by the end of May. They can also be direct seeded in warmer climates. Keep evenly moist and well fed with organic fertilizer and use a rich planting medium such as compost.

Seed packets are 15-20 seeds for 3.00
